A Great New Year Is Underway!

Well, the year has begun with a bang and things are steadily in motion! The leaves are turning, fall is here, and the holidays are around the corner. First, Third, and Fifth grades are about the begin rehearsing for our Winter music shows. Kindergarten, Second, and Fourth will perform in the Spring. Dates and info for the upcoming shows are below. Hope to see you there!

Kincheloe Winter Program: Tuesday, December 7th
Sister Lakes Winter Music Program: Wednesday, December 8th

Both shows are at the Dowagiac Middle School performing arts center at 7pm!

Fine Arts Night 2010

Fine Arts Night is Thursday, May 13th at 7pm at the High School. The Kincheloe and Sister Lakes Special Chorus students will be performing, as well as students throughout the district.
Students should meet in the gym by 6:45pm at the latest. Please have your children get drinks and use the bathroom before meeting in the gym. Feel free to check out the art exhibits, which open at 6:30pm. Your children should plan to stay for the entire performance as it will be fun and educational!

5th grade Symphony Field Trip

The fifth graders will be taking a field trip the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra present it’s annual Young People’s concert in the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College. The concert will take place on Friday, April 23rd. Students will see Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite. Students must be on time to school that day if they wish to attend as buses will leave the school immediately after the last bell rings. Kincheloe students must be at school by 8:45am and Sister Lakes students must be at school by 8:52am. Students will return to school by around 11:15am that afternoon.
Students and chaperones should dress nicely for the concert trip. (For example: no jeans with holes in them, no t-shirts with writing on them, etc.) Dress pants or skirts and a nice shirt would be appropriate if you have them.

Just a note to say congratulations to everyone who participated in the spring music show. The student performances were wonderful! Thank you to the parents who donated pirate costumes and to the Sister Lakes PTO for donating half of the profits from the bake sale to the music program. You are appreciated!

In search of pirate costumes!

Dear parents and guardians....
The theme for our music program this year is pirates and we are in need of items for our pirate costumes. If you have anything you would be willing to let us borrow or have, such as hankerchiefs, eye patches, pirate hats, or pirate themed halloween costumes, please send them to school with your child or contact me at tfletcher@dowagiacschools.org and I can pick them up.

Spring Music Programs

The Spring music program will take place at the Dowagiac Middle School in our beautiful performing arts facilities at 7pm. The Kindergarten, Second, and Fourth grade students will be performing "How to be a Pirate". The opening acts will include performances by the Special Chorus and Recorder Club.

Rehearals will take place the morning of the shows. The students will be bused to the middle school to practice and will return to the school before lunch.

Kincheloe Elementary's show will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
Sister Lakes Elementary's show will be on Thursday, March 11, 2010.

The students have been working very hard in class to prepare the show. Be sure not to miss these stellar performances!
